Funeral Home Upgrade

Funeral Home Upgrade
  • Location : Wiri, Manukau
  • Council : Auckland

Due to the increase demand from customers to hold after funeral functions Lot 1 was bought for that purpose to extend the operation.

This funeral home was established to cater for all nationalities, however, 90% of the families utilising our services are Indians and their performing of rituals are a lot different from other races. Normally when someone passes away prayers are conducted at their home before the deceased is brought to the funeral home for memorial service and cremation or burial. It is a fact that a lot of older people are now staying in rest homes and as such they do need a place to perform the prayers. Also many people live in smaller units where it is not possible to conduct such prayers. Currently for prayers we are using our dressing room which is next to the mortuary and is not very inconvenient as bodies are being embalmed at the same time and the noise coming out of Embalming machine distracts the families. Also the smell of the chemical is not very pleasant.

The design of buildings in the Commercial Zone can adversely affect character and amenity both within the zone and in the surrounding environment. There is the potential for new developments to positively interact with and enhance the community’s relationship the surrounding environment; Noise from activities within the Commercial Zone can adversely affect the amenity values of occupants in neighbouring buildings and zones; and Signs can play an important role in creating a vibrant commercial area; however the quality of signs, particularly due to design, appearance, and lack of maintenance can have adverse visual effects on character and amenity.
